Resilience
Resilience is the ability to prepare for, recover from, and more successfully adapt to adverse events, such as hurricanes, wildfire, and sea level rise. Resilience is increasingly important for all cities because of climate change, the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters, and rapid urbanization. Communities that factor resilience into their infrastructure and planning processes can reduce their population’s vulnerability to disease, hunger, economic distress, loss of property and loss of life.
