Historic Preservation

Historic preservation is placemaking that prioritizes the historic fabric of a community by identifying, protecting and restoring historically significant features of the built environment. This includes, but is not limited to, historic buildings and art.

The historic power plant was meticulously rehabilitated and adapted to new uses as a center of gathering, entertainment, education and hospitality along the Savannah River. The project was granted Historic Preservation Tax Credits at both the state and national level (Copyright: Terry Allen)
